International Internet Access Is Important To Small Businesses
As many people know, the United States pioneered the Internet. We developed Darpanet, the precursor of the modern Internet, as a way for the military to communicate with itself and with outside researchers. Since then, however, we have definitely fallen behind in Internet technology. International Internet access is much better in many countries than it is here. High speed access here is done over old cable lines. If you compare that to much of Europe where everything is wired with fiber-optic cables, it shows how poor our technological infrastructure has become. When I recently traveled to England, I thought naively that I would have to buy international Internet access before I left. I subscribed to a dial up ISP with ports all over the world, thinking that this was the only way I would easily be able to get Internet during my month abroad. Boy was I mistaken! The Internet access international was much better than anything that I could get at home. I could stream full-quality video over my computer with no problem at all. I did not have to put up with the clunky, slow, Internet service providers that I was so used to. Everything would happen at the speed of light. International Internet Access Technology Of course, with WiFi Internet and other new technologies, everything is slowly changing. Domestic ISPs are slowly providing better and better service. Still, it could be many years until we catch up with the rest of the world. Anyone who is experienced international Internet access is unlikely to want to go back to the slow standards that we have here in the United States. Like public transportation here, our electronic communications have fallen behind. We are put to shame by international Internet access. Part of the problem is the amount of power that the telephone companies have. International Internet access is generally run by the government, which is a much more efficient way of doing things. They are able to provide better services because they are not motivated by profit, but rather by the desire to provide the most efficient high speed Internet access available. Although international Internet access varies from country to country, the United States is no longer one of the top Internet providers. Of course, if you go to a developing country, things are not as good as they are here. In terms of technology, I guess, we are somewhere in the middle. Personally, I think it would be much better for us to get on top again. Snippet of the article you selected Click to read full article
